First Steps After Signup
Just activated your hosting account? Follow this checklist to get everything set up properly.
Checklist
- Check your welcome email. It contains your cPanel login URL, username, password, nameservers, and server details. Save this email — you'll need it.
- Log into cPanel. Use any of the login methods to access your control panel and verify everything works.
- Point your domain. If you registered your domain elsewhere, update the nameservers to the ones in your welcome email. See Nameserver Setup.
- Install an SSL certificate. cPanel includes free AutoSSL certificates. Verify yours is active under Security → SSL/TLS Status. See SSL Certificates.
- Upload your website. Use File Manager or FTP to upload your files to the
public_htmldirectory. - Install WordPress (optional). If you're building a WordPress site, use Softaculous to install it with one click.
- Create email accounts. Set up professional email addresses at your domain. See Creating Email Accounts.
- Set up backups. Review the backup options available in your cPanel and consider scheduling regular backups.
Tip
DNS propagation can take up to 24-48 hours after changing nameservers. During this time, your website may intermittently resolve to the old server. This is normal.
