Creating Email Accounts
Create professional email addresses on your own domain and manage passwords, storage quotas, and mailbox settings from cPanel.
Creating a New Email Account
- Log into cPanel and scroll to the Email section.
- Click Email Accounts.
- Click the + Create button.
- If you have more than one domain on your account, select the domain from the Domain dropdown.
- Enter the username (the part before the @) in the Username field. For example, entering
infocreatesinfo@yourdomain.com. - Set a strong password. cPanel includes a password strength meter — aim for a score of at least 65. You can also click Generate to create a random secure password.
- Set the Storage Space (mailbox quota). You can choose a specific amount in MB or select Unlimited to let the mailbox use all available disk space on your hosting account.
- Click + Create to finish.
Tip
Keep a record of the password in a password manager. cPanel does not display existing passwords — you can only reset them.
Choosing a Mailbox Quota
The mailbox quota limits how much disk space a single email account can use. Here are some practical guidelines:
- 250 MB — Suitable for light usage or addresses that mainly forward mail elsewhere.
- 500 MB – 1 GB — Good for most personal and small business accounts.
- 2 GB+ — Best for users who receive large attachments or keep long email archives.
- Unlimited — Uses your overall hosting disk quota. Be careful — a single mailbox could fill your entire account.
Warning
Setting all mailboxes to Unlimited can cause your hosting account to run out of disk space unexpectedly. Assign reasonable quotas and monitor usage regularly.
Changing a Password
- In cPanel, go to Email Accounts.
- Find the account in the list and click Manage.
- Under Security, enter and confirm the new password.
- Click Update Email Settings.
Note
Changing the password will immediately disconnect any email clients or devices that are using the old password. You will need to update the password in each app.
Updating the Mailbox Quota
- In cPanel, go to Email Accounts.
- Click Manage next to the account you want to modify.
- Under Storage, adjust the Allocated Storage Space value.
- Click Update Email Settings.
Deleting an Email Account
- In cPanel, go to Email Accounts.
- Click Manage next to the account.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Delete Email Account.
- Confirm the deletion. All emails stored in the mailbox will be permanently removed.
Warning
Deleting an email account is irreversible. Download or back up any important messages before you delete the account.
